were treated with care and concern, but, most importantly, they were treated like family and friends. That Southern hospitality, combined with some of the best fishing in our nation, helped turn Bill Newland's vision into a good business. Then, after suffering a stroke, Bill died in 1974. Son, Charles, then took over management of Newland's. Louise and Charles decided to expand beyond camping trips. As they could afford it, they bought additional acreage and began adding accomodations. Louise isn't getting around as good as she used to. In fact, in Sept '09 she fell and broke her hip, requiring partial hip replacement. Louise Newland passed away in October 2016, just short of age 98. Charles took care of her at her home. In addition to Charles, Bill and Louise have three other children--Bill, Jr; John and Vivian.
